What you should do as a member of the ROC Canada team

  • (R): Follow-up and correctly dispatch GGUS tickets addressed to the ROC Canada
    • All GGUS tickets can be found through GGUS search.
    • GGUS tickets should be in correct status.
    • When you close a ticket, if the ticket was opened through CIC dashboard, please close it through the dashboard too.
  • (P): Periodically (at least daily) review the backlog of tickets and take appropriate actions on them
  • (A): Follow the ROC Canada mailing list.
  • (A): Maintain the ROC Canda wiki (for internal matters mainly).
  • (P): Partecipate to the Operations Meetings.
    • Since EGEE project ended, there is no such meeting any more.
  • (P): Certify new site and follow up uncertified sites going on through certification again
    • Open a GGUS ticket for the certification process, all progress and issues can be followed there including communications
    • When site is ready, launch SAM tests through SAMAP on CIC dashboard.
    • Only after the site passes three days continuous test, its status in GOCDB can be changed to certified.
  • (P): Every Monday before 12:00 UTC (so better to do it Sunday for us) validate the ROC report for the Operations meetings.
    • Since EGEE project ended, we don't need to do this.
  • (R): Periodically (at least twice per day) review the alarms and tickets on CIC dashboard and take appropriate actions on them
    • These alarms are generated according to Nagios SAM tests and GStat
    • When alarm appears, please click on the related host name to review the report of Nagios SAM tests
      • If the problem doesn't disappear for some time, please open a GGUS ticket through CIC dashboard
      • If the problem disappears and doesn't happen again, you can close the alarm
The tasks are marked with (R), (P) and (A), meaning that some of them are meant to be completed by the Reactive ROD(the shifter), some by the Proactive one (ROC Manager or deputy), and others by all members of the ROC team.
