Testing the Production Software Releases

As a check on the quality of the production software releases installed at the Tier-2s, the fullchain CSC monte carlo can be run on a specific release, and the output from the MC can be compared to output from other sites. To try to keep the comparison simple, I have looked at two quantities - the mean and the RMS of summed ET. These seem to be good quantities to check, since summed ET collects many different detector inputs, and therefore checks overall consistency. The recipe for this check is to use glite job submissions to produce 15 Z to ee events with the transforms csc_evgen_trf.py and csc_simul_reco_trf.py. The glite commands used are (eg.):

glite-wms-job-submit --vo atlas -a -r ce1.triumf.ca:2119/jobmanager-lcgpbs-atlas csc_test_1452.jdl

glite-wms-job-output --dir /tmp <job-id>

(See the attached scripts for details on what is actually run). Of course, for valid comparisons, identical scripts are run on each Computing Element for a given release.
